All in this together

At the beginning of freshman year, everyone tells you that the next four years are going to fly by. You roll your eyes and think that it will be the longest four years of your life. Then, in the blink of an eye, you are walking through the doors on your first day of senior year, and it feels unreal. As you begin to come to terms with the fact that you need to start making some steps towards life after high school, your to-do list seems to multiply in length by the day.

Whether you plan on going to a state university, community college, or trade school, there are numerous hoops you must jump through to make sure that all of your plans are set in stone and your life is relatively put together. While asking for recommendation letters from teachers you have not spoken to in years and fighting with the registrar about transcript issues, you still have a year of high school to complete. Although many seniors have numerous off periods, saying senior year is easy would easily get you a rude look from any of us.

Arguably the worst part of senior year is the questions you get from adults, and sometimes classmates, relating to what your plans are for your life. So, not only do you have to figure out what you want to do and go through the steps of what it takes to get there, but you also have to be confident enough in your choices to be willing to present them to your elders and peers. Nothing is worse than being asked life-questions in a group with someone who has everything planned out, while you are struggling to make these big decisions that we are forced to make at the age of seventeen.

This is a warning to all underclassmen; do not think that seniors have it easy, because I promise you have it easier. This is also a sympathy message to seniors; we are all in this together, suffering through this trying time as one class. Good luck seniors.
