A Concert for Our Community

The Second Annual Concert with Church Choirs was December 18 in the Fine Arts Center at 7 P.M. Last year WHS Choir Director, Jeremiah Ieppert, started a new tradition where the church choirs of our communities join the WHS choirs in a concert for the holidays. Last year people paid for admission for the concert and the money went towards our choir trip, this year a toy drive was held for children who aren’t as fortunate this holiday season. There were 3 choirs that joined us at the event called “A Concert for Our Community”. The Central Presbyterian Church Choir, The St. Joesph’s Catholic Church Choir, and The First United Methodist Church Chancel Choir all joined last night. There was a great amount of people there. There were people from the churches, parents of WHS Choir Students, and teachers. Many people brought toys and enjoyed the concession stand that the Harmonizer’s Booster Club put together last night for the audience. Each WHS Choir sang two selections in between the church choirs performances. Senior, Savannah Wolters, spoke and gave information about each choir before each choir took their place on stage. It was an amazing night. At the end of “A Concert for Our Community” all of the choirs joined in “Heaven Everywhere”. WHS’ Varsity Choir, Chorale, started the song off on stage, then The Show and Concert Choirs joined, then the church choirs, and finally, the WHS Advanced Ladies filled the isles of the FAC and sang the song. The night brought so much cheer and good feelings for this holiday season. It was all thanks to Mr. Ieppert, it couldn’t have been done without him, and he and the choir department hope to see more choirs involved and more people to enjoy next year!
