Lookout for the Leaders

Lookout for the Leaders

This Friday, the Spirit of Waxahachie Indian Band will hold its final audition prep clinic for its potential leaders. In these clinics, band students review the proper way to march, learn to properly conduct 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4 patterns, and develop a concept of what potential leaders should be.

“The meetings are really inspiring,” Junior Sumner Smith said. “It’s interesting to see what other people think that leadership is. It’s a great way to connect with all the auditionees and it’s a great team building experience.”

This year to become a leader, students had to perform a one minute solo, an assortment of marching drills, and conduct the three time signature patterns at an assortment of speeds.  Auditions for the leaders for the 2015-2016 marching season will be  May 1st from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the WHS Band Hall. Results will be posted the following Monday the board outside the band hall.
