The Ag program at Waxahachie High School is full of opportunities for everyone. In this program, students learn public speaking, work ethic, teamwork and problem solving skills all while getting to spend time with the people they love.
“My main goal this year is to get more kids involved in the different aspects of agriculture because there’s always something going on that they can be involved in,” Jeanette Middleton said. Middleton teaches floral design and agriculture leadership.
There are all kinds of events for students to participate in.
“We are currently preparing for a state fair speaking contest and a district leadership contest,” Callie Creech said. Creech teaches classes on small animal management, livestock production and veterinary medicine. “Throughout the month of October there will be a lot of contests and it’s very cool to see how the kids work together.”
Multiple students have placed high in the competitions they compete in, Cutter Frisbee spoke on his first place win in his division at a contest in Waco.
“I created a deer blind which is a wildlife observatory,” Frisbee said, “I made a lot of new friends and it was overall just a great experience.”
Ag students and teachers describe it as a community and a family, and no matter who you are, you are welcomed.
