Pitching was the name of the game for the Bryant (Arkansas) Hornets as they beat the Waxahachie Indians by a 6-0 score on Thursday, with Austin Ledbetter pitching a near no-hitter.

Bryant struck early in the top of the first, reaching on an error by Waxahachie shortstop Peyton Graham. Graham would commit both of the Indians’ errors.

The Hornets would never trail, knocking in two runs in the first frame to take the lead and hold it behind the stellar pitching of University of Arkansas commit Ledbetter, who struck out 10 batters on the night.

On the flip side, Tribe starter Casey Kelly surrendered three unearned runs while striking out four.

The Indians kick off their Friday slate against Birdville at 4:30, followed by a showdown with Midlothian at 7:00.

Both games will be held at Paul Richards Park. KBEC 1390 AM/99.1 FM will cover the late game.
