AirPods 2: the sequel

Chase Wakefield, Staff Writer

In 2016, Apple launched a line of wireless earbuds called AirPods alongside the iPhone 7 and Apple Watch Series 2. The Cupertino, California-based technology company released the 2nd generation of AirPods on Tuesday.

AirPods 2 maintain the $160 price of the original, with the optional wireless charging case increasing the price to $200.

The primary new feature is the H1 chip, a brand new design that will provide faster pairing and switching, improved audio quality, improved battery, and “Hey Siri” functionality, Apple said in a press release.

Customers can also add a personal engraving to the AirPods free during checkout when buying online or via the app.

The new AirPods are currently available online and in the Apple Store app. The product will hit Apple Store shelves in the coming week.
