Alexis is so close to winning the first match of her tennis career.

Initially, she never planned on playing tennis, but her friends convinced her it would be fun so she tried it out.

Now she is one of the best players on the team and enjoys playing doubles with her friend, Peyton; she feels as if they are a good team. Her most memorable moment in tennis was winning the Arlington Tournament in doubles with Peyton last year. It was the only tournament where the winners got trophies, and Waxahachie as a whole won the team trophy.

But just like any good athlete, they do have days where they aren’t feeling the game, and Alexis has those days where she doesn’t want to play or run. She said, “I just have to remember that it a mental thing and to just keep going – that the things that are bothering me at that moment are only temporary.”

Alexis does see tennis being a part of her life for a very long time. She said college tennis doesn’t seem like an option but that she will most likely sign up for tournaments.

She said that her greatest inspiration is her dad. “He always wants me to do my best and is always encouraging me to do better, whether it’s tennis or life in general,” Alexis said. “He’s very respectful and funny, and he’s come a long way in life. I don’t know what I would do without him.”
