As the warmer days are inching closer, so are the music festivals. One near to us is the 26th annual EdgeFest, a day-long concert held at the Toyota Stadium in Frisco on April 30. Last year, I attended this infamous music fest and was thoroughly impressed. That day was single-handedly one of the best days of my life. I crossed some major things off my bucket list, like seeing one of my favorite artists live and crowd surfing with my best friends – not to mention the eclectic people I met. The lineup from last year included bands such as New Politics, Awolnation, Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie and artists such as Banks, Hozier, and Vance Joy.

Although I never thought the lineup could get any better, it looks as if it has. The 2016 lineup includes Cage the Elephant, the 1975, Bastille, Silversun Pickups, Good Charlotte, Foals, Blue October, Chvrches, The Struts, X Ambassadors, The Joy Formidable, Nothing But Thieves, The Strumbellas, and more to be announced. A large amount of hype is circling around the 1975, who didn’t include Dallas in their most recent tour. I’m most excited to see Cage the Elephant and the 1975 perform their own type of magic on stage.

If you’re planning on attending this concert, be prepared for a crazy crowd and sweltering heat. Even though it’s in the cool month of April, be ready for any type of weather that could be thrown at you. A key component to having the best time is to keep yourself hydrated. All the jumping, dancing and singing in the sizzling Texas sun can easily wear you out. Lastly, you will most likely be encircled in a cloud of smoke and surrounded by senseless drunk college students at all times, so watch out!

Even though tickets can be pricey ($75 and up), going to EdgeFest is completely worth it. There are numerous possibilities to create memories of a lifetime, so I wouldn’t dare to miss out.
