Baseball Season has Arrived

Baseball Season has Arrived

The Super Bowl is over and the days are slowly getting warmer. Friday nights will no longer be spent at Lumpkin Stadium and will be moved to Richard’s Park. Get your ball caps and sunglasses because baseball season has arrived.

This glorious season here in Waxahachie is a tradition to families in this small town and Richard’s Park is like a church to the baseball fans, young and old. The stands at Richard’s Park on a sunny March afternoon is filled with parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, siblings, students, and strangers all together with a pack of sunflowers seeds, listening to the country music that plays over the intercom and the sound of cleats hitting the concrete.

The Waxahachie baseball team has high expectations for the season and always “expect to win.” With a winning past and an exciting future, the team is excited for another season. This years seniors have all been playing together since coach pitch. “This is our last year to play baseball with some of our friends that we have grown up playing ball with and we are all just trying to make the best of it.” Senior Damian Ortiz said.
