Green aims for top

WHS is filled with students who have many different talents, but arguably one of the most talented of all is Junior Taylor Green.

Green is a member of chorale, show choir, and musical theater. In choir, she made it to pre-area last year and hopes to advance to state this year. She is well on her way after finishing the top 12 and advancing to the next round in last weekend’s district competition.

“I was relieved. I was kinda ecstatic but I kind of knew I was gonna get in because it’s the easiest.”, Green said.

Green has also succeeded in solo and ensemble last year, scoring a 1 on all of her pieces.

She even takes voice lessons outside of school, to further improve her craft. She grew up in a musical family therefore, she also grew up loving to sing.

“I decided to start singing because I knew it was something I was good at, I wasn’t afraid to fail at it.”, Green said.

She has a busy schedule, balancing musical, advanced  and all her choir activities. Green has a small time frame after school to do her personal interests and homework before she has to go to rehearsals.

Green currently has a part in the school musical as the mean nanny in Mary Poppins.

“It’s a fun role because I get to sing a lot and I finally get a featured role in something.”, she said.

Green will continue her journey in Choir toward State on Oct. 20 in the Regional competition.
