Dean of Students Paul Toal hasn’t followed the traditional career path to get to where he is now at WHS. His path started in the field of construction where he built houses for 13 years. He then moved to education to influence children in a positive way and to have more time for his family.

He started teaching eighth grade math at Mabank ISD for four years before moving to Waxahachie with his two daughters.

This is Mr. Toal’s eleventh year in education but his first year as an administrator. He came to the high school from Finley Junior High where he taught eighth grade math for seven years.  

He has enjoyed the transition to high school and said that high school students are far more independent than junior high kids, but he definitely misses all the high fives from his eighth graders.

He feels like the year so far is his “best year yet in education,” though he wishes he could be out in the classrooms and hallways with students more than just being stuck in his office.  His favorite part of his job is to be out helping teachers and interacting with students whenever he can.

 Mr. Toal aspires to be one of the best principals WHS has ever had.
