Sophomore Enjoys Cheerleading

Taylen Bowman, Staff Writer

Ever since she was in sixth grade, she knew she always wanted to be a cheerleader. Leah Rasor is a sophomore cheerleader at Waxahachie High School this year. She is lively, passionate, and sweet. There is not one person who meets her and doesn’t like her.

“I wanted to be more involved in my school,” sophomore Rasor said. “When I was in sixth grade, I was sitting at a pep rally. I was watching the cheerleaders. They looked like they were having so much fun, and I wanted to be just like them!”

For Rasor to be a cheerleader, she has to have several practices each week. During practice, she has to be ready to focus on jumps, stunts, tumbling, cheers, and choreography. Then at football games, she gets to show off what she learned.

“My 8th grade year I had a small groin injury that put me out for about one or two weeks. I tried to hurdle and I guess I didn’t scratch well enough and I hurt it.”

Thankfully, that injury did not put Rasor out for too long. During that time period, she stayed optimistic.

“I’m super glad I chose to try out for cheer, and I will continue to cheer for as long as I can!”
