Coaching Waxahachie baseball is not an easy task, but new head coach Jesse Lopez is ready to step up to the plate.

“The community is amazing here,” Coach Lopez said. “I love working with all the guys every day.”

Coach Lopez was previously head coach at China Spring ISD. His varsity teams have qualified for the playoffs in all eight years of his coaching tenure, making it all the way to the UIL state finals in 2022.  Prior to his time in China Spring ISD, Coach Lopez was a teacher and coach in Midway ISD.

“Last year was a good year. We played in the state championship game and it was a great year,” Coach Lopez said. “Obviously the goal is to go to the state championship with Waxahachie as well, but my biggest goal this year is to make these kids better people and better baseball players.”

Lopez is very excited to be in Waxahachie.

“I am ecstatic to be in Waxahachie,” Lopez said.” WISD really is treating me well and making it feel like home.”
