Richards Park was witness to bonus baseball on Tuesday night, as the Waxahachie Indians edged out the Cedar Hill Longhorns 6-5 in 11 innings.

Waxahachie would open the scoring in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI single by Jordan Fay that plated third baseman Sage Hampton. However, Cedar Hill would take a 2-1 lead half an inning later on consecutive wild pitches by Tribe starter Casey Kelly. Aaron Tesei and Peyton Graham would put the Indians up by a 3-2 score after three innings.

Cedar Hill would threaten in the top of the fifth, but Campbell Sullivan threw out Jackson Higman at the plate to preserve the lead. Shortstop Graham would put the Tribe up 4-2 in the home half of the frame with a leadoff shot to left-center field, knocking Longhorn hurler Thomas Dominguez out of the game.

Tragedy struck in the 6th when Sullivan fouled off a 1-2 pitch from Ethan Magdaleno and injured his left shoulder. Colton Lee came in to replace him.

Cedar Hill would stay in the game thanks to nine strikeouts from Magdaleno and an RBI double by Tavion Vaughns, who would come around to score the tying run on a two-base error in the top of the 7th.

The deadlock was broken in the 10th on an RBI single by Longhorn DH Roy Hernandez, but the Indians’ Xavien Thompson scored on a balk to once again knot the game.

Cedar Hill would threaten again in the 11th, but Tony Gonzalez was thrown out at home by Lee. In the home half of the inning, Fay turned out the Richards Park lights with a walk-off single.

The Indians (3-0 in district 7-6A) travel to Cedar Hill to face the Longhorns (1-2) on Friday at 7 PM. KBEC 1390 AM/99.1 FM will broadcast the game.
