The baseball season for the Waxahachie Indians reached its conclusion on Saturday, as the Marcus Marauders completed a two-game sweep of the Tribe.

Game one of the series saw Marcus hurler Blake Mayfield carry a no-hitter into the sixth in a 9-0 Marauder win. Waxahachie brought the bats to the second game, but they couldn’t quite solve the Marauders’ Tyler Morgan and would drop the contest by a 9-4 score.

Throughout the year, head coach Tracy Wood guided the program to many historic firsts. This season featured the first 6A campaign (culminating in a second-place district finish with a 10-4 record), the longest games in both innings (13 extra frames in a 5-4 loss to Grand Prairie) and time (4 hours in a 6-5 win over Cedar Hill). Also, Waxahachie set a record for most runs scored in an inning (13 in a run-rule win over South Grand Prairie on Senior Night) and began the story of the Bill Midkiff Sports Complex with their first games at the facility, both of them wins.

The Tribe also honored 8 seniors this season: Sage Hampton, Peyton Graham, Jordan Fay, Garrett Milliken, Hayden Blevins, Bryson Campbell, Adam Carrazales, and Austin Gallagher. The team is appreciative of their contributions over their career.
