Waxahachie volleyball has made a name for itself over the years, and this season has been no different, as they have raced out to a 22-9 record. The team has competed in three tournaments and has finished in the top tier in all three.

Notably, longtime coach Sandy Faussett reached her 800th career win during the Mansfield tournament, en route to a second-place finish.

The program has also created a welcoming environment for all athletes involved.

“I like how Waxahachie has built up such a good reputation that almost everywhere you go people know who you are and what you represent,” junior captain Kate Morgan said. “It’s really fun to play for such an amazing school!”

The team this year, being very young, will only graduate five seniors.

“When I graduate, one thing I’ll take from the volleyball program is perseverance,” senior captain Ragan Ward said.

This team, with an average height of 5’5”, may be tiny, but they have worked their way to 14th in the state and are getting better every day. The support from their community has helped them become the team they are.
