The Texas Rangers ended their eight-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the 1st place Oakland A’s. The Rangers had won three straight series before they lost the finale to Colorado. They faced the San Diego Padres in a four-game set, with the first two games being in Texas and the last two being in San Diego. The Padres would go on to hit a grand slam in every game, taking all four and sweeping the Rangers. Then, Texas got swept by the Seattle Mariners, being outscored 21-6.

The Rangers were originally looking as if they could sneak into the expanded playoffs this season, but probably won’t thanks to those eight straight losses, especially since this is a shortened season. Texas is even discussing selling off players at the deadline. There is still a chance that we could get hot, win our next several games, and be right back in the pennant chase. If Lance Lynn can continue his dominance, the other starters can get some quality starts in, AND the bats can wake up, we can be a legit threat. I know that that’s a lot of things that need to happen, but this is baseball and ANYTHING can happen.

The Rangers have three more games here at home against the A’s and then the vaunted Los Angeles Dodgers come to town, providing a really tough next couple of games for the Rangers.
