The WHS Black Box class just released its cast list for their upcoming fall play, Dearly Departed. The play is about the impending funeral of the patriarch of the family, Bob Turpin. The play follows his kin and how unusual they all are.

The director of this year’s production of Dearly Departed is Ryan Mullican, the teacher of the Black Box class. This isn’t Mr. Mullican’s first production of Dearly Departed though.

I am in a different place in my life than when I first directed. Reading the script, I realized how close it is to my actual life. It’s been fun and fulfilling to find those connections. It’s closer to my life than I ever realized.

The stage managers for this show are juniors Presley Hollingsworth and Lily Derr.

When asked about the show, Hollingsworth said, “I think it’s going to go really well and we have a great group of people.”

“I’m so excited to be stage managing my first high school show,” said Derr.

“I’m so excited for my first show in Black Box, I think the show is a great opportunity to show our range as actors,” said Morgan Lenamond, a sophomore.

Dearly Departed opens the 9th and runs through the 14th, every performance is at 7 pm.
