As district was winding down, the Indians baseball team was fighting for a spot in the playoffs. The Waxahachie team was finally able to gain a spot in the Texas 6A Playoffs as a four seed.

Their first matchup was against the sixth team in the state, the Bryan Vikings. The Indians brought out the brooms as they swept the Vikings in an “easy” two games.

This past weekend, the Indians faced off against Tyler Legacy who recently eliminated Wylie. The Indians had a great first game at Richards Park, breezing through the Red Raiders. Unfortunately, the team had a rough start on Saturday by losing game one. Facing elimination from the playoffs, the Indians rallied and bounced back, and they beat Tyler Legacy in game two.

Now moving onto round three of the playoffs, the Waxahachie Indians will face the Rockwall Yellow Jackets in a one game series. The game will start Thursday night at 7pm at North Forney High School.

Zander Martinez, senior third baseman, said, ” For us to be able to play our best, we will need energy and focus throughout the entire game.”
