Wrapping up the second weekend of contests, the Spirit of Waxahachie Indian band finished 3rd overall at the Bands of America contest in Prosper, TX.

“I am very proud of the band and how they performed,” head drum major Leah Gonzalez said. “Now, the work begins.”

The band finished 8th at their first contest on Oct. 8, competing against some of the best bands in the state.

“The show this year is winning. We are taking back our place among the greatest bands in Texas,” soloist Clara Moriarty said. “We are trying to come back, and make finals at the state contest.”

The band performs next at the Region UIL contest, where a rating of a one will begin the road to state.

“I’m really excited for the performance,” junior Keegan Underwood said. “We are going to do well.”

The band’s next contest is the Duncanville Marching Invitational on Oct. 22. They perform at 3:15 p.m. at Panther Stadium.
