The One Act Play team poses with all their awards that were won during their area contest.

The UIL one-act team are to advance to Regionals, placing first out of the top three schools. They competed against six other schools at Mansfield Legacy High School at their area competition this past weekend.

The team will travel to Waco University to compete against the other six advancing schools in a regional contest on April 22.

“This year’s one-act play is one of our strongest shows ever,” Theatre Department Director Ryan Mullican said. “I have every confidence we will represent our school and community well. I’m so excited to show off all the hard work these kids poured into the production.”

The UIL team has been working on “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” since January. They placed first at all their previous competitions and have had school performances, along with a public performance for their fellow peers and community.

“I am so grateful to be in such an outstanding department. I can’t wait to see how much our show grows from here,”junior Abby Kennedy said.” I think we are really on the brink of something truly awe-inspiring,”
