On April 11, the Waxahachie ISD school board approved the donation going towards a new indoor golf facility at Coleman Junior High. The indoor golf building has been built inside of the old FFA workshop. The facility was able to exist because of a donation from the late loyal citizen of Waxahachie: Bill Pearman. On March 14, head golf coach, Lonnie Gaylor, honored Pearman with a plaque and the naming of the facility after his legacy.

Both the girls and boys Waxahachie golf teams practice at multiple golf courses around DFW, not knowing where they will end up each day. Not to mention the weather in Texas is very unpredictable, making an indoor facility an essential.

“The indoor facility is so nice and I am very grateful for the donation the Pearman’s made, “sophomore golfer Maylie McCorkle said. “I am looking forward to using it more in the coming years.”

WISD athletic director, Greg Ree,  said talk about the golf facility began last year, and now the building has now been up for almost a month. With nets to practice their swings and putting greens to practice for the course, the golf team’s game is likely to improve significantly.
