I recently had the opportunity to watch the new movie “David” by Angel Studios. The film was not only animated beautifully but the studio did an amazing job of truly captivating the essence of what it means to chase after God.

Throughout the film we see David constantly seeking after God. He appears to be the epitome of being at peace with God. However as the film progresses we can see him experience fear, anxiety and many other negative emotions. It gives the viewer a deeper connection and makes it easier to relate to David, a man said to be after God’s own heart.

I know for me personally and many other people David can seem out of reach because of his fortuitous spirit, but when we see him struggle with emotions and thoughts that we do it reminds us he is just a man. The only man who was without fault was Jesus. Again and again David is faced with obstacles or challenges and at times he feels far from God but he never stops trusting Him.

This allows David to continually overcome hardship in the story. When he is awarded some victory or achieves some accomplishment he never allows himself to take the credit like many people would. Instead, David constantly gives all the glory, all the honor and all the praise to The Father, Our God. The movie also does a good job of portraying David to be a righteous man but not to the point of perfection.

I think this film did an amazing job of accurately portraying the story of David, while also keeping it family friendly for all ages to enjoy. If someone where to ask me to rate it I would genuinely give it five out of five stars. This is a movie I would highly recommend to people who do and don’t yet know God. The film shows the nature of God’s love, how faithfulness and obedience to him will get you through hardship and it all around just a great watch. Once again, to anyone who hasn’t yet seen this movie I would really encourage you to take the time to see it.
