April 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.  The month of April highlights an ongoing issue that women have to face on a daily basis. Sexual assault awareness has become more mainstream which is great for sexual assault victims. There are 436,648 victims of sexual assault/harassment of the age 12 or older. More women speaking out about their experiences helps others to feel heard and lets them know that they are not alone. Although it’s “not all men,” it’s 97% of women who have had to go through some form of sexual harassment. As a whole, men need to be held accountable for their actions.
